My Blog

Thanks for stopping by! I use to blog to "keep in touch," I use to blog to brag, I use to blog for an outlet. I have now realized I blog because these are the things I want my children to know/remember about our life together as a family. These days won't stop passing, but having a record of it when it is all a memory will be priceless to me.
I read your blog because I love you!

Best Date Ever!!

These are the flowers Josh brought home to me.

Last night was the greatest date ever! We don't get to go out very much so any date is amazing but last night was great. My dear friend Kaycee watched the boys while went out. She has four kids of her own so to add two more to the mix was such a generous act of kindness. I loved spending time with Josh one on one. The best part of having a husband in the restaurant business besides getting free samples is the friends he makes. He really gets along with the manager of this amazing restaurant Faustina and he kept telling him to bring me in for a date so yesterday he took him up on it. It was the most amazing food I have ever eaten- not exaggerating! It was one of those places that make the food look beautiful. There were real linens on the tables- I really felt out of place but loved every second. This is my lasagna. Josh made me turn the flash off because I was embarrassing him. They had this yummy bread with vinegar and oil to munch on while we were waiting. It was the most amazing thing I had tasted. We found out that the oil was chive oil. I don't know where you get that or how expensive it is but the flavor is unlike anything I have ever had.

This is Josh's Fillet Mignon served with a Gorgonzola potato croquette with creamed spinach and HUCKLEBERRY sauce! He also ordered shrimp bisque soup- they brought him out a bowl with one shrimp right in the middle. I almost started laughing! Then the waiter went over and brought this gravy boat looking thing and poured the soup into the bowl. It was beautiful but I was laughing inside so hard- this wasn't our typical restaurant. For our first anniversary we went to Dave's BBQ and last year was the Red Lobster!

This is us behind the restaurant. I was too chicken to walk to the front of the restaurant where it looked all cute but none the less this is us at the restaurant. Then we drove by the reception center where we had our reception. It isn't a reception center anymore but it brought back the memories. Then Josh took me to this neighborhood that had these amazing houses that he said if we ever have money that is where we would live. Then we drove up above the Salt Lake Cemetery and looked over the city. It was a great view. We drove down through the cemetery and we saw President and Sister Hinkley's grave.

We came home, gathered up the chitlins, and put them to bed. Then we snuggled and watched our wedding video. My brother Rustin made it and it took him a while so this was the first year that we have had it on our anniversary. It was a great night, I dreamed about it all night long!

Hey Tiffy,
Got you a new blogging commenter!! :) That sounds like the sweetest most thoughtful date, the neighborhood, with some Hinkley charm, and you dreamed about it how sweet!! I didn't know Josh worked at a resteraunt, how long, where is it, does he like it? Sounds so yummy, but only ONE shrimp floating are you serious, I was tempted but I don't know about that if its one lonely shrimp!! Those expensive resteraunts always jip you on quantity, not QUALITY of course....Happy Anniversary!

I don't know why, but I got a bit teary-eyed reading your blog-so sweet. We got to visit Inga in Hawaii--courtesy of my parents and Sam's parents. We felt so rich just being there, but one night in particular, we left Reyn sleeping at Inga's while Sam and I drove out to Ko Olina. There's a fancy Marriot hotel there. We felt a little out of place in such a ritzy hotel (even the bathrooms had seperate rooms for individual stalls and cloth towels to dry hands), but we loved every minute. We visited the four restaurants there and looked over each of their menus. Sure, we were looking at prices, but we were also there to have the most incredible dessert experience ever. We settled on the fanciest of the four restaurants and had a chocolate souffle with raspberries and coconut sorbet. We split it and it was heavenly. Then we went for a walk along the hotel's private beach--three scalloping lagoons in a row. I love those moments where even though we're just about destitute, we feel extremely special and a little bit rich.

What a wonderful evening. You are so cute taking your camera with you! Happy Anniversary you guys! I still think your wedding reception in your parents back yard was one of the prettiest I have been to!
