I then bribe my two oldest with a trip to McDonalds if the behave. Don't judge me.... I knew I would have to feed the babies before I could make it home and so McDonalds and the mall are the best options for me- the kids can play while I nurse 2 babies. So I have the two babies in there with two older ones holding on and trying to push through the small bolt lined aisles. It worked great (I had done Joanns once before with flying colors) UNTIL I needed to get 3 different colors of felt by the yard. Those bolts are HUGE and LONG. Plus I had two other materials which were super slippery. I had tried to stack them all up on the handle. It wasn't working very well as I kept hitting things on all sides of me. I am trying to get to the cutting counter and I can see the take a number dial in front of me. I tell Turner to run ahead and "get a number" so he goes in front of me and starts grabbing sale tags off of sewing machines... duh mom he was just doing what you asked, there are numbers on those! Finally I push my way up to the dial just to have a lady with one small thing in her hand walk in front of me and snatch a number. The other ladies at the counter had PILES of bolts. Poor Cooper kept having bolts fall down on him. After I got the material cut, we played a little choo choo train as Turner held my pockets and Max held onto Turner's hood on his sweatshirt. We were probably 15 feet long from Amelia to Max and the most entertaining thing in the store.
So the worst part was after Joanns, after Walmart and we finally got to McDonalds. I was nursing Amelia and she had just finished so I was going to get Cooper. I thought I had pulled my shirt back down but I had a button-up sweater on and a nursing cover so I guess I had been lulled into a false security. Max happened to bump his head and was running to me, needing a kiss to make it all better, so the whole PlayPlace was looking at me and I bent over and my nursing cover went one way and the sweater went another and I had NOT pulled down my shirt, or pulled up my bra. One guy in specific was looking straight at me- for a second, before he quickly looked away... that is what gave me the clue that my shirt had indeed not been pulled down. I was hanging out like a picture in the National Geographic. So how are your shopping trips? :)

Ha, ha! I'm so sorry about the fabric store trip. I really dislike going there, but sometimes you just have to and I feel like I could take a 3 day nap after it is all over. I think you win for most embarrassing McD's moment. So sorry! But... I actually laughed out loud while reading this and Addie came over to me asking what was so funny. That was something I wasn't about to explain to a 2 year old! I don't have any funny stories... but I do get a ton of people asking which country my kids are from. The best comment ever: "Are you going to tell your kids that they're adopted?" Really folks. That is obviously decided. I don't think they'll have any doubt about that given their beautiful skin and my translucent Dutch skin. Ha!
Sophia was less than a month old when I decided to take Dalton and Joe to the pool, you know, the one with the perfectly safe slide and spout and life guard and sloping downgrade to the deep end.
I was nursing Soph when Joe, then 3 1/2 years old, slowly walked away from me till the water was over his head. I screamed and the life guard didn't notice, so I ripped my Soph off, handed her to the closest stranger (another mom of course) and took at least 6 frantic strides towards my drowning Joe before I sloshed my engorged breast back into my suit.
The other mothers there totally understood my situation and would have done the same, and the few old men sitting in the hot tub didn't mind the show.
All in a day of motherhood.
Having never got that far in nursning any of my children I can't sympathize. But I find it completely wonderful that you are able to find humor in this!!! You are obviously a dedicated and wonderful Wal-mart shopping mom!!! (I love Walmart as well for those necessary one-stop trips!!)
Oh my, so funny!! You and Sherrie, thanks for sharing great stories. Isn't it great being a Mom. I remember being a teenager and thinking that I would never have babies because I didn't want my lady business out for all to see, and I would NEVER go to a man doctor... oh how times and opinions have changed.
Oh my word! I'm dying here! About your story and all the stories here in the comments!!! Cracking up. Thanks for that much needed belly laugh.
P.S. I have, and always will, LOVE Walmart. I just can't help myself.
AH! You are the best. Sometimes I worry that I am losing my mind and I only have 1! I don't know how you do it. My last trip to Joanns was filled with total screamin fit and nocking over multiple bolts of fabric. And a while ago I had to go to Costco to pick up some pictures and Ellie was screaming by the time we got there so I decided to nurse her in the back seat real quick. That went ok (except for some strange stairs from the neighboring people getting into their cars), but when I was done I set her back in her car seat so I could get out and walk around and put her in the cart. Well apparently I was a bit frazzled and forgot to put my shirt down (I did put my bra back luckily) and got out of the car with my garments and bra hangin out for the world to see. I walked half way to the store before I realized what I had done. It was a really cool day.
I saw that pic on facebook and was shocked at the fact that you go shopping with ALL of them. Holy crap! You are insane/ amazing all at the same time. Oh, And the little peep show you gave, I'm sure it wasn't the first and it won't be the last!
This is hilarious. I love that you go out though. Way to be mama! This is bring back so many memories. Ahh, life with twins. I am glad I had mine first. I don't know any different!
