My Blog

Thanks for stopping by! I use to blog to "keep in touch," I use to blog to brag, I use to blog for an outlet. I have now realized I blog because these are the things I want my children to know/remember about our life together as a family. These days won't stop passing, but having a record of it when it is all a memory will be priceless to me.
I read your blog because I love you!

Tough one. It's all relative you know.
What if someone had a crap mum but had a woman in their life that felt like a mother figure?
I think it depends on the person.

Dunno, I do know that I always felt really stupid when they passed out the mothers day candy or flower at church and insisted that I take one before I was ever a mother. Really, I dont know if you are asking the right question. The question you should be asking is, "Why do moms HATE mothers day so much..." I know mine does, and Im not so hot on it either now that I am a mom.

Unfortunately I think Mother's Day puts a lot of pressure on all of us--kids and Moms alike. And probably husbands too! But to give my thoughts on your question, I think it's a celebration of the nurturing characteristics of women in general. I just wish somehow it didn't make us all feel inadequate!

I'd day it's tocelebrate women in general. In Russia they have a woman's day on March 8. I love it. It makes all women feel included.

In a way I wish they would change it to Women Appreciation day, or something like that. Mother's Day does seem to be meant for mothers, but my heart always goes out to those women who never had the opportunity, or ability to be a mother. I also think the reason why some moms hate mothers day is because it is yet another holiday that it feels expected to receive a present, when an "I love you" and "mom, you're the greatest" would be good enough, and not even on a day that feels those phrases should be forced because the public says so. Just too much pressure.

So this guy in church today gave a talk and taught us that mother's day was started in 1912 specifically to celebrate your individual mother. Apparently the apostrophe was specifically placed and everything. So there is the technical answer.

It should just be for Moms! Before you have children you only THINK you know what life will be like with them. AFTER you have children you realize that you had NO IDEA, and that being a MOM is much harder than anyone could even begin to explain!
