So I was watching a paper plate commercial today and line they were using to get you to buy their paper plates was that being with your kids was so more important than doing the dishes. It got me wondering about the difference between the modern mom and a mom 100 years ago. My understanding of 100 years ago is that it took all day long just to keep the house clean, laundry done and food on the table. There were no play groups, children's museums, trips to the park. If woman did spend time together it was in quilting bees where they were making bedding for their families. Today I am feeling pretty proud of myself if I even have a meal on the table at the end of the day. So which day would you rather be raising your children in? Obviously we don't have a choice but if you could transport your children back in time would you?

Hmmm...I think you may know the answer to this question, I think if I had my druthers, I would go baack 100 years. So, since I can't I try to relate now and then. A cloth diaper now and then. A loaf of bread home made, now and then, again. Actually, yesterday, I wore a dress! Rawl, he noticed! He said something like, pretty dress~ is that not cute! It was inda a waisted fun button up flared skirt jumper. Well, I like your baby picture that shows how much longer you have, 20 days, holy cow! Thats exciting, how are you feeling! Well, I've been thinking about you, and how glad I am that you are my friend. I feel I have a handful of them, really, you know, good friends that really care, relate and love me, and you are in that golden little handful!
P.S. I, unlike the old fashioned mom, struggle to get laundry done, a meal is a huge accomplishment, especially if it has a vegetable, etc. Maybe they made a lot of oatmeal! (mush) :)
In other words, its fun to dabble in old fashioned ways here and there, and try to hold onto some old fashioned charm, and goodness if you will, but heck I'll take microwaves, maxi pads, disposable diapers, cars, internet, and more, any day! :) That would be comment number three, for me!
Sorry to hog all the old fashioned chats! ;)
Answer...Um, No. I would not.
Good question! The answer for me is NO... I would not want to live back then. I think we have our own things that keep us away from our kids (like blogs are for me :)) but if we try our best not to be distracted by those thing (and do them when the kids are in bed) then we have plenty of time with our kids, and we can be great mothers!
There is no way I would want to live 100 years ago. Epideral says it all..
No way would I would have wanted to be born in a different generation. These times have their challenges but I feel so blessed to live on the earth today. It's amazing what our Grandmother's did and I have a deep respect for them as women, but I'm also amazed at what we women do today... even if we do have disposable diapers!
Love, Nic
P.S. I'm back in the blogging world.
I personally am a big fan of modern day technology - dishwashers, washing machines, quick fix meals, and epiderals!! I think I would have been a cranky pioneer. Crazy what you can come up with from a paper plate commercial.
