My Blog

Thanks for stopping by! I use to blog to "keep in touch," I use to blog to brag, I use to blog for an outlet. I have now realized I blog because these are the things I want my children to know/remember about our life together as a family. These days won't stop passing, but having a record of it when it is all a memory will be priceless to me.
I read your blog because I love you!

Getting bigger!

I went to the Dr. yesterday and we got 2 strong heart beats! It took a while because the baby on my right side is a wiggler and as soon as my Dr. got the heart beat the baby would squirm away. We didn't get an ultrasound but we will get to have the big ultrasound next week so I am trying to be patient. I measured 24 wks (cm?) So at least I am not meausring twice as big as the weeks I am but sometimes I sure feel like I am 38 wks!

A day at the Airplane museum

Sat. was such a fun day for our family. We decided to head to the Airforce Museum. We love it because it is FREE! We also love it because my 3 year old happens to be in love with airplanes and my 31 year old happens to know everything there is to know about airplanes. Well, that last statement might be a stretch but he once wanted to be an airplane mechanic and comes from a big airplane family. His grandfather is somewhat of an airplane expert. Right before we left I was checking my FB and a friend that Josh works with happend to post that he was headed up to the museum too! As soon as we pulled in we spotted them in their car. Carin and Joey (esp. Joey) love to spoil our kids (esp. Turner) he made sure he gave them lots of candy and even bought Turner a diecast airplane at the gift shop. Needless to say Joey is his new best friend. One of the best suprises is that they added a hands on section to the museum where the kids could play with toy airplanes, dress up like astronauts, and learn all sorts of fun things about science. We will be back soon!

Where in the world...

... did he pick that up? We just came downstairs to get ready for preschool and as I turn on the light Turner stuck out his hips, struck a pose and said "I feel sexy!" Heaven knows he hasn't heard that from me in a long long time! This kids makes me laugh everyday!

Loving it!

This is Turner's first self portrait (that you can figure out what it is.) He drew this on Saturday. I couldn't be more thrilled! I think I was more excited about this than the first time he went poop in the potty. I love art- creativity is one thing that I value so much. I am not a very good artist but I married one. We have been waiting and waiting for this day to arrive but didn't really know how to cultivate it. Turner just hasn't seemed interested in art at all until recently. He loved painting... to make a mess, but not really to create anything. He has since drawn a lot of pictures and I can't wait to see how much he grows artistically.

Something Edible

Today in preschool we talked about changing wheat into bread. We took whole wheat- Turned it into flour- it was so cute because the kids thought that when I opened the container it would be flowers not flour. I tried to explain the difference to them but they just had to see it for themselves. Some of my kids you could tell that they had helped their mom in the kitchen a few times- some of them you could tell had no idea!
Then I asked the if they were ready to eat it and explained what else we had to add to the flour to make it bread. We tossed it all into the bread maker while we went onto other things and put it on the dough setting so we could cook it in a regular loaf. I didn't get a picture of the dough but I gave them a little bit to touch after each step so they could feel it and describe how it changed. so it went from smooth and hard to soft and powdery and then sticky and squishy to YUMMY!

(this picture is why flash sucks :) but I didn't have a lot of time to mess around with the camera as the kids were getting very impatient to eat some of their bread!) They were in heaven!

My recipe for one loaf of bread:
4 c. whole wheat flour (I use hard white because that is what my family likes best)
2 t. yeast
1 3/8 C. Hot water
1 1/2 t. Salt
3T. Oil
3T. Honey
Put it in the bread maker and then pull it out and toss it in the oven on 375 for about 25-30 min.
