My Blog

Thanks for stopping by! I use to blog to "keep in touch," I use to blog to brag, I use to blog for an outlet. I have now realized I blog because these are the things I want my children to know/remember about our life together as a family. These days won't stop passing, but having a record of it when it is all a memory will be priceless to me.
I read your blog because I love you!

2 hearts that beat as 1

I went to the Dr. yesterday. His nurse has a tendency to ask questions that always scare me. Like the first appointment she asked me if I was really pregnant. I looked at her and said "I think I am" with a worried look on my face. This time when I walked in asked said "So are you still having twins?" Um... well, nothing has come out! What a question to ask! Then the Dr. had a hard time telling if he was getting 2 heartbeats. So he did an quick ultrasound and sure enough there were 2 heartbeats!
It is nice to be this far along and still have 2 good heartbeats! The image below explains why he wasn't sure if there were 2... they were lying right next to each other so their hearts were about a half an inch apart and I guess pretty close to the same rate. It was cute to see their two heads right next to each other!

We go in for the big ultrasound in about 5 weeks- it seems so far away. I mean it will even be spring by then :) We were amazed to see how much they had grown in the 4 wks since w last saw them.... I can only image how much more they will grown in the next 5 weeks. If there was any question at first, I have totally fallen in love with the idea of having twins!

Puddle of wax

I have been wanting to do this for... I don't even know how long! Honestly I don't even know where I heard of this idea, it has been in my head forever- probably somewhere from when I taught preschool before my mission. I was at yard sale before we ever had kids and I saw this warming plate. I remember asking them how much for the warming plate and they said "just take it off our hands!" Josh has tried to throw it away I don't know how many times. So it finally got put on the preschool schedule and it was a HUGE HIT! It is pretty easy- you plug in the warming plate, and put a piece of paper on it and let them draw with crayons.

You have to emphasize not to touch the plate but it really doesn't get too hot unless they put their hand on it for a long time.

The wax melts and it gives the picture a rich color and texture to it. Plus it is a really smooth feeling almost like painting. Yesterday after we did it in preschool Turner and I spent a long time just playing afterwards. In fact I think I loved it more than anyone!

So I am going to keep my eye out for more of these warming plates this summer at yard sales- I really wish I would have had more than one!

Post office and Space Helmets

We went on a field trip to the Post Office this week! It was very cool (at least for me!) I have always wanted to go behind the security door! The kids had a lot of fun and they mailed a picture to their parents. They even got to pick out which stamp they wanted. We got ours from Turner yesterday and I had him open it with his Dad and both of them loved it! Yesterday they also created space helmets. These little boys thought that they were so cool! (so did I!)

Olympic fever

So since I found out I was having twins I have to say that most of my time on the Internet has been researching everything I can about twins pregnancy and raising twins. I have learned a lot and really I feel a lot more confident then I did a couple of weeks ago. I never would have thought about how different having twins is then having one. The coolest part is that my friends that have twins and my friends that are twins have been some of the most supportive people! That gives me a lot of hope and confidence. I can really say that I have gone from "how in the world are we going to do this?" to an overwhelming feeling of excitement and gratitude! So here are several posts of what we have been up to for the last couple of weeks- I know a bunch of posts isn't as fun as frequent posts and if you are like me, you will skip all of the writing and just look at the pictures!

One of my friends posted some art work of her daughters on her blog and it gave me the idea for spreading a little bit of Olympic fever. The kids today replicated the Olympic rings by dipping canning rings in paint and painting the beloved Olympic symbol. After they did the Olympic symbol, they had fun with just random circles and it was even cooler! A great way to teach circles and colors.

Ice Painting

We had a lot of fun in preschool yesterday when we tried painting with a little ice! We took a little bit of dry tempera paint and sprinkled it on paper and then the kids went nuts with ice cubes. It was a lot of fun!

UNCLE RUSTIN!

We were so lucky this past weekend to have my brother come visit. My kids love having him come to visit and so do I! He is always s helpful and entertains my kids, what more could you ask for? He made this fort with them but wouldn't pose for a picture because he hadn't showered yet! We loved having him here!

Can we say BUMP?

Ok I guess I shouldn't complain, I can still see my toes but seriously I am 13 wks here! I know I know there are two in there. I just realize that I didn't get that big with Turner, I had people saying a couple of days before he was born how tiny I was- I have NEVER been called tiny in my life. With Max I had someone ask me if I was sure there wasn't twins in there! What in the world is actual twins, pregnancy 3 going to bring? Although right now I am feeling really good and my expanding belly is the reassurance that things are going well. I am more anxious for my next Dr.s appointment then I ever have been. I guess I just worry more since I have double the load to worry about and twice the opportunity for something to go wrong. So I won't complain about how big I am getting!

Valentines Parties!

Here are some pictures of my adorable preschool kids during our Valentines party this year! Talk about sugar overload. Of course that is what all holidays are about with kids right? I was thinking about the sugar scale today as my kids were hungry and throwing tantrums as we were waiting for Dad to come home. Sugar too low = Bad behavior. So I gave them some left over V-day candy and pretty soon we had the opposite problem- Sugar too high= hyper behavior! I guess it is with all thing, it is all about keeping things in balance!
