My Blog

Thanks for stopping by! I use to blog to "keep in touch," I use to blog to brag, I use to blog for an outlet. I have now realized I blog because these are the things I want my children to know/remember about our life together as a family. These days won't stop passing, but having a record of it when it is all a memory will be priceless to me.
I read your blog because I love you!

I sure missed it

Max has been sick this past week. It has been a horrible, clingy, cranky, terrible week, mostly because I missed this- His adorable smile! Max is normally a very happy child so when he doesn't feel good it just zaps the sunshine out of our home. But today he has been feeling better, getting his appetite back and most of all smiling again. Yeah! Turner's imagination is growing everyday. Here he is pretending he is a monster A "skawy monter." Tonight we were reading "scriptures" (really just a page out of "my first book of mormon stories") and we were reading about the anti-nephi-lehi's burying their swords and it was really cute because the following conversation followed-
Turner: They were hitting
Mom: Yes they are burying their swords so they don't hit anymore
Turner: I don't hit people
Mom: It makes Heavenly Father sad when we hit people
Turner: I don't hit Jesus
Mom: That is a good choice
-Ok it was funny when he said it...
Anyway on another note, this is a question to all you parents of more than one child out there- how do you get a picture of them both looking at the camera and looking cute? I know I should know this but I don't. On the other hand Turner is turning into quite the photographer- this is a picture he took of us- notice the creative use of the rule of thirds?

By request!

Things around here are getting back to some sort of normal... What ever that means but I did have a request from Nicole- she said that she missed out on too much of Christmas stuff because I didn't blog about it so here is a picture of the cupcakes that I made for all of the neighbors.. I told you they were cute!

This is a picture of the snow monster Josh made. He then later dyed it blue with a red patch on its stomach. But we didn't get a picture of that. I got a lot of compliments on my artistic abilities. When I informed them that it was Josh they were shocked- yes my husband is a very creative artist. I would have made 3 large balls in 3 different sizes, a carrot nose, a scarf, hat and charcoal eyes... I am not that creative.
Josh wants it to snow so that he can one up it and do something even cooler but I myself and grateful for the sun we have been getting. I don't do so well in the winter- maybe it is because I am an AZ girl, maybe I have S.A.D. or maybe I get cabin fever being stuck inside- anyway I am thankful for the sun!

If at first you don't succeed...

try try again right? When I was pregnant with Turner I thought that staying home would be a challenge on my sanity so I decided that I was going to do a preschool. I spent a lot of time getting licenced and certified and getting other things ready and put a flier in the local paper and expected to be flooded with phone calls. Nothing... I was pretty new in the neighborhood and didn't know very many people so it was really hard for me to get the word out. Well it ended up that I had a hard time finding people and so the preschool never got off the ground. I chalked it up to bad timing but the idea never left me. I taught preschool while I was going to college and it happened to be my most favorite job I ever had. Even when we bought the house I thought to myself, the basement would lend itself to a great preschool. So now that I have a preschooler myself I am going to attempt it again. So that is what we have been up to lately, trying to organize everything to get the word out, hopefully I will have a better response this time- at least I already have one kid signed up! (Turner)

Back to blogging

Where do I begin? Life has been so crazy! We had a wonderful holiday season filled with family and festivities. Yet because we had so much going on blogging fell by the wayside and I regret it. Blogging isn't just a way for me to keep in touch with friends and family it is a family history of sorts. Some of the best moments of the year didn't get recorded. I started blogging a little over a year ago and I am so glad that I have a record of this last year. Josh was commenting the other day on how many bottles of sparkling cider we have on the shelf and I said, well I guess we need something to celebrate and Josh sarcastically stated "yeah this year has been really uneventful!" I mentioned last year that my theme for the year was "Life is great in 2008." It really was such an awesome year. The birth of our second child and our sealing tie for the highlights. I look forward to this next year and wonder what it will bring. If having a positive outlook on the year had any influence on how it ended up then I have to say: "Life is divine in 2009!"
