My Blog

Thanks for stopping by! I use to blog to "keep in touch," I use to blog to brag, I use to blog for an outlet. I have now realized I blog because these are the things I want my children to know/remember about our life together as a family. These days won't stop passing, but having a record of it when it is all a memory will be priceless to me.
I read your blog because I love you!

Cousins!

My sister and her family came this week. It was fun to have them here for a couple of days. It was especially fun for Turner as he doesn't get the opportunity to be around his cousins very often. We went to the children's museum in Salt Lake. We had never been there before and it was a fun change to the one we have a pass to in Ogden. There was a water feture there that once Turner discovered, he didnt want to do anything else. He loved it! The rest of the visit was spent trying to get him to try other things. Again a nap would have been a good thing to add to the day. I was hoping to have this baby while my sister was here but he didn't want to compromise with that plan. At least she is coming back through this next week and he better be here by then! Turner was very sad when Gage and Carter left. We will see them even less when they move to Milwaukee in the fall. Here are some pictures of all the crazy fun!

Easter

We had so much fun during our Easter Festivites. Sat. we went to my Aunt's house and participated in an Easter egg hunt. We were going to do some around town but after I heard that the little ones usually get trampled and they only get a couple of eggs we decided it wasn't worth it. So I was really excited to do the hunt with my cousins kids. It was a lot of fun and Turner really liked it. My aunt also coordinated a fishing pond and a game of pin the tail on the bunny. Turner probably would have liked participating in those games more if he had had a nap that day but we loved it. My aunt has 8 children all married with kids and 6 of the families were there. Being from a big family I love the crowds and chaos the happens when family all gets together. Josh on the other hand being from a very small family has a harder time with the massive groups but he handled it like a champ- having to sneek off from the large group every once in a while trying to find smaller pockets of people. I think my Aunt said that there was 36 people in all! It was fabulous. Sunday was a great morning. We started a tradition a few years ago of making bananna pancakes for Easter morning breakfast. That tradition was started before we had church at 9 am but we managed to fit it all in. Turner got his first tie! He looks so grown up. Sunday afternoon we had dinner with Josh's family. It was nice to have a small group after the massive group of the day before.

Saturday my nephew was baptized in AZ we wish that we could have been there but even if time and money weren't an issue I am not sure my Dr. would have let me travel that far. Oh well, it wouldn't have mattered this baby thinks that he is going to stay inside of me forever. And at this point I am thinking that just may be the case! Physically I know that I am ready to have this baby out but are you ever ready for the impact that a child is going to have on your life?

Good Friday and clue #8

Friday was really a good friday for us. Not just in name only but we had a great day. It was still a bit cold but Turner wanted to get out of the house so instead of going on our normal little walk about the neighborhood I decided that we would go to the park and feed the ducks. We had a great time except that the geese scared him just a bit. I mean with a honk like that I can see why. The park has a fenced in creek lined with ducks and seagulls. I think the highlight for him though is that they were airating the baseball fields and he LOVED the tractors. It was still a bit too cold to really play on the equipment but we had a great time exploring everything else. After the park we headed for Artic Circle to play inside and warm up a bit. He had a great time with the little bit of freedom I was able to relinquish while he climbed up and went down the slide all by himself. It was a great day.

An interesting thing happened on our way to the park that really made me think. We went because Turner asked to go for a walk. Instead of giving him what he wanted I gave him (in my opinion) something better- a walk at the park where there were new things to explore and experience. Yet when I put him in the car he threw a huge fit. He didn't think that I understood what he was asking for because when you go for a walk, you don't get in the car. I was frustrated because I felt like I was doing something nice for him and he felt like I was ignoring what he wanted. I realized that our Father in Heaven must feel this was all the time. We pray and plead for the things that we need and want in our lives. Then when the Father sees our needs and wants and tries to give us something better how many times do we throw a fit thinking that he doesn't care. Sometimes the something better takes a bit more time- i.e. eternally about the same amount of time that gettting in the car and driving to the park takes. Sometimes we can't see how the detour is getting us to where we want to go. Yet Heavenly Father is taking us to a much better place. I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father that sees my needs beyond what I can see.

We also had a fabulous Easter but the pictures of Turner in his shirt and tie need some major editing and I am not on the computer that has that software so I will post those at a later date!

Well, I am really out of clues for the baby's name so he better come soon. The only one I can think of is that both of the people he will be named after have passed away. This is our final clue- even if he doesn't come for a couple more weeks. You can continue to guess every week if you wish but I am thinking that most of you have your minds made up by now (considering the guesses have dwindled the last couple of weeks.) Thanks for playing along with us. It has made the time pass by quicker and the anticipation a little more exciting for us!

!!!SPRING!!!

Spring! The first day of spring! Winter is NOT my favorite season but this winter has been especially bad. The snow has been endless and the crazy pregnancy homones haven't helped at all either. Yet the first crocus has pushed its way up through the ground announcing that it is truely spring. Yesterday was also a perfect day. We even got to go to the park and there was only one small patch of snow on the ground! I love spring! It is such a wonderful day to celebrate! (Hence all the exlamation points!!!)

What is your must have mom item?

One of my favorite things about blogging is keeping in touch with my friends from all eras of my life. I love networking with other moms and learning from everyones experience. So in the spirit of networking I would love to put a question out there and learn from everyone else! So here is my first "Mom tip of the week" post. There are a lot of products that I love as a mom especially for entertaining the baby but my favorite mom product for me the mom is Bath and Body Works lip gloss. Not only does it shine my lips but it also freshens my breath. If I need a quick freshen it is just the thing!

What is your favorite mom must have?

Psyco Easter Bunny

We went to the Albertsons for and Easter egg hunt on Sat. We were a little too late for the toddler hunt so we decided to take some pictures with the Easter Bunny. Turner is usually up for anything but he was freaked out by the bunny. But I don't really blame him.

Big boy bowling

Note the styling bowling shoes. Who knew they made them so small. Turner did awesome, he didn't even get the lowest score! Of course if we were better at lining up the ramp he probably could have got a 300.

Clue #7

Well, to quote a famous BNL song "who needs sleep? Well, your never gonna get it, who needs sleep? tell me whats that for. Who needs sleep be happy with what your getting there are guys who have been awake since the second world war." I think that is pretty close to the actual lyrics. It is almost 2 am and I just think that you should be able to stock up on sleep the last few weeks instead of not being able to sleep. I had achived REM finally when a stack of magazines fell off a dining room chair sounding in my groggy head like gun fire. Well that was an hour and a half ago so I finally decided to get up and do something productive like blog :) At least I will be use to this whole sleep deprived thing when the baby is born. He is awake and kicking right now so it is just a preview.

Well, we are still in getting ready for baby mode. I have some pictures that I was going to attach but somehow the cord for the camera wasn't in the camera case and I am not going to turn on any lights to try to find it. I will hopefully attach them soon. Along with our pictures from bowling Sat. It is kinda tricky bowling when you are 8 1/2 months pregnant but once I readjusted my throw I actually broke my own personal record. Which by the way is 87 :) I was afraid that I would go up to bowl and my water would break but then I thought- if your water is going to break in public it might as well be a good story right?

I hope that this baby comes pretty soon because I am running out of clues but here we go. There seem to be two camps when it comes to naming babies. There are the die hard name the baby what you are going to call them parents. Then there are the name... shname whatever fits at the time goes. Well... Joshua goes by Josh, My dad Richard goes by Dick, my brother Richard goes by Rick, and my brother Joseph goes by Brett. This baby will go by an alternative- I mean so far we have been calling him hooch! (Turner and hooch.. you know- yeah that does make me hooch's mamma.) Have fun guessing!

Wondering

So I was watching a paper plate commercial today and line they were using to get you to buy their paper plates was that being with your kids was so more important than doing the dishes. It got me wondering about the difference between the modern mom and a mom 100 years ago. My understanding of 100 years ago is that it took all day long just to keep the house clean, laundry done and food on the table. There were no play groups, children's museums, trips to the park. If woman did spend time together it was in quilting bees where they were making bedding for their families. Today I am feeling pretty proud of myself if I even have a meal on the table at the end of the day. So which day would you rather be raising your children in? Obviously we don't have a choice but if you could transport your children back in time would you?

My Hero

I love being a Mom. Turner is my hero. Here are the reasons why I wish I was more like him.
1. He is not afraid to get excited when he sees someone he cares about.
2. He will stop randomly say "dance" and starts shaking his bootie music or no music.
3. He gets bored with TV after a few minutes.
4. He has a genuine quest to learn anything and everything.
5. He doesn't get made fun of when he crashes his cars :)
6. His energy!
7. His amazement at every little ant, flower, acorn etc...
8. He gets excited everytimes he sees a picture of Jesus. He shouts "Jesus" with such exuberance that you know he is talking about a dear friend.
9. His natrually funny sense of humor. If he feels silly then he acts silly he doesn't worry if others will laugh or not.
10. He isn't afraid to let you know exactly how he feels or what he wants.
11. He gets to sleep 14 hours a day.
12. He still thinks bubbles are magical.
13. He still gets to run to his mommy everytime he gets hurt.
14. When someone asks him to do something he doesn't want to do- He can just pretned he doesn't understand.
15. He has no idea how this baby is going to rock his world.
16. He sings without caring about knowing the words or the tune- he just sings because he is happy!

Yet I am glad to be me because I get to be married to his daddy and I get to be his mommy.

Macs are fun

The family that I work for is a Mac family. I think that the coolest program is the photo booth. What if I really looked like the first two pictures? Would you all still claim me as a friend or family?

Clue #5

No this isn't my cute belly- I am twice that size at least it feels that way everytime that I bend over. This little guy is a mover and a shaker but he is slowing down just a bit because he doesn't have much room to move it. Josh and I are loving just feeling him kick and kick every night. I started washing baby clothes and fogot just how tiny they start out. I pulled out the outfit that we brought Turner home in and remembered that he swam in it. I look at Turner all the time and wonder what happened to my baby. I think that children grow up faster than us parents would like them to. Turner really is a little boy now with lots of personality. I love being a mom and getting to watch him grow up. I am also excited to hold a little baby again in my arms and awe at the miricle that God made inside of me. I can't wait to hold him and know that his is my son and to smell that wonderful smell of a newborn.

So that brings us to clue #5- One of his names has 5 letters and one has 7 (actually two of them do since Thomson has 7 letters.) Good luck!
